Hi, I’m Frazer.
I’m a cinematographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado taking pictures of elk and birds and pretty mountain sunsets with my little Kodak point-and-shoot camera. They weren’t great, but I loved doing it, and I figured if I kept at it long enough I might get good some day.
20-odd years and a few Emmy awards later, and to be honest, I still have that same mentality. What I love most about cinematography is that there’s really no end to how much you can learn and grow. It’s like playing jazz—no matter how much you practice, there’s always something new and surprising that pops up on the day that makes you want to chase a brand new thread.
I’ve been blessed to be able to shoot many high-caliber projects in both the documentary and narrative spheres over the course of my career, and I think my shooting style draws influence from both of those worlds.
I approach every project guided by the following three principles:
Good cinematography is more than getting pretty shots. It’s creating a visual framework for a piece. Production value comes from intentionality, not money. Be intentional with every shot, have a reason for the choices you make, and—most of all—don’t be boring.
There is a beauty in spontaneity. Leave yourself open to being surprised, and be ready to react. The best moments are often the ones you didn’t know were coming.
Being on set is hard work. It doesn’t matter if you make something really good, or you phone it in—you’re still going to work your tail off. So, you might as well make something really amazing that you can be proud to show off. As they say, pain is temporary, but art is forever.
If that sounds like a philosophy you agree with , then I’d love to work with you! Fill out the contact form below and I’ll be in touch as soon as I can.
